Ingredients:

  • 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

                         Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare the pie crust: If using a homemade or refrigerated pie crust, place it into a 9-inch pie dish. If it's not pre-baked, bake it for 8-10 minutes to set it, then remove from the oven and cool slightly.

  3. Make the custard:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until smooth.
    • Gradually add the milk, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.

  5. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is set (you can insert a knife or toothpick in the center—if it comes out clean, it's done).

  6. Cool the pie: Let the pie cool completely at room temperature. You can also chill it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before serving for a cooler texture.

  7. Serve: Sprinkle a little extra nutmeg on top for garnish, and slice to serve!
