Ingredients:
- 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups milk
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Prepare the pie crust: If using a homemade or refrigerated pie crust, place it into a 9-inch pie dish. If it's not pre-baked, bake it for 8-10 minutes to set it, then remove from the oven and cool slightly.
-
Make the custard:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until smooth.
- Gradually add the milk, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.
-
Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
-
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is set (you can insert a knife or toothpick in the center—if it comes out clean, it's done).
-
Cool the pie: Let the pie cool completely at room temperature. You can also chill it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before serving for a cooler texture.
-
Serve: Sprinkle a little extra nutmeg on top for garnish, and slice to serve!
Enjoy your homemade egg custard pie!
