Ingredients:

  • 4 cups frozen French fries (or homemade fries)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar and mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
  • Green onions or fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
  • Jalapeños, sliced (optional)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Fries:

  • Preheat the oven according to the package instructions for the frozen fries or if making homemade fries, cut potatoes into thin strips, season with salt, and bake at 425°F (220°C) for about 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Alternatively, deep fry the frozen or homemade fries until golden and crispy.

2. Prepare the Beef:

  • While the fries are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef.
  • Once the beef begins to brown, add the diced onion and cook until softened (about 3-4 minutes).
  • Add the minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the beef is fully browned and crumbled.
  • Adjust seasoning if needed.

3. Assemble the Dish:

  • Once the fries are done, spread them out on a large serving platter or individual plates.
  • Spoon the cooked ground beef mixture evenly over the fries.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the beef.

4. Melt the Cheese:

  • If the fries are oven-baked, return the whole platter to the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese melts. If using deep-fried fries, you can melt the cheese in the microwave or place under a broiler for a couple of minutes until bubbly and golden.

5. Garnish and Serve:

  • Top with optional garnishes like sour cream, green onions, diced tomatoes, or jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • Serve hot and enjoy your Beef and Cheese Fries!

Tips:

  • You can also add other toppings such as salsa, guacamole, or olives for extra flavor.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, add chili flakes or hot sauce to the beef mixture.

Enjoy your indulgent meal!
